RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court asked the government on Friday to submit a status report on the Covid situation in the state.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S N Prasad gave the direction while hearing a bunch of public interest litigations (PILs) related to curbing the spread of Covid-19. The next hearing in the case is on July 3.
Informing about the proceeding, advocate general (AG) Rajiv Ranjan said, “We have to submit a status report on various aspects of Covid-19, including the number of samples tested, positive cases and health of migrants, in the next hearing.”
During the hearing, the AG submitted before the court that migrant workers are being kept in home quarantine.
He further stated that new testing laboratories would come up at Dumka, Hazaribag and Daltonganj. He said the Truenat machine that detects corona cases has been installed in every district, and added that a Covid hospital has also been demarcated in each district.
The AG further said that the state government has collected 85,000 samples, out of which 75,000 have been checked. He said the recovery rate in Jharkhand was good. He also informed that the rate of positive cases among the migrant workers was 2%.
The AG also explained to the court the reason behind removing Hindpidi from the list of containment zones. He said that the decision to lift restrictions from Hindpiri was taken after the locality reported no fresh Covid cases in 28 days.
The AG later claimed, “The court was of the view that the measures taken by the state government were satisfactory.”
