Raghubar Das borrows line from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to highlight his government’s achievements

HAZARIBAG: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Sunday borrowed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular catch phrase “double-engine growth”, which the latter used in his Sindri visit last year, to list the key achievements during his tenure.
In his welcome address for Modi at the Gandhi Maidan here, Das said Jharkhand emerged as the one of the most developed states in India due a “double engine growth” powered by stable governments at the Centre and the state.
Modi had used the same phrase in Sindri to list the development works in Jharkhand while inaugurating the revival of the Sindri fertilizer plant.
Das also said, “Jharkhand was plagued by corruption when I took over as the CM four years ago. Pensioners were not getting their pension and middlemen did not allow the poor to get scholarship benefits. Today, all beneficiaries, mostly tribal and poor students, are getting funds directly transferred into their accounts.”
On his government’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, Das said: “There were only three medical colleges (one each with Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad) when our government took over. Today, three new medical colleges in Hazaribag, Palamau and Dumka have come up at a cost of Rs 885 crore in one single day, which is a big achievement.” He added that two more medical colleges which are under construction at Koderma and Chaibasa, will be completed soon. “All these happened due to the support of the Centre under the guidance of the PM,” Das added.
Das also said his government has turned its attention towards rooting out Left-wing extremism after eliminating corruption from the state. “Naxals have been rooted out from 11 of the 24 districts and police action in 13 districts have intensified. People are not joining these outfits anymore and many of their top leaders have surrendered,” he said.
