Jagannath Mishra gets provisional bail for med treatment

The Jharkhand high court on Friday granted provisional bail to former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra on medical ground for four weeks.

RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court on Friday granted provisional bail to former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra on medical ground for four weeks. The 81-year-old had pleaded before the court for provisional bail to undergo chemotherapy at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.
"The HC has granted provisional bail to the former CM. We had pleaded for the bail on medical grounds.
Mishra was to undergo the treatment on February 15, but now he will get a new date for the treatment," Mishra's lawyer, Dharm Kumar Jha, said.
Mishra was sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment along with RJD chief Lalu Prasad after his conviction in a fodder scam case related to fraudulent withdrawals from the Chaibasa treasury. He was lodged at the Birsa Munda central jail in Ranchi .
