Meghalaya records 15th Covid-19 case

Meghalaya on Monday recorded its 15th Covid-19 case after a person, who had recently returned from Chennai, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Monday recorded its 15th Covid-19 case after a person, who had recently returned from Chennai, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The state currently has 2 active cases as 12 had recovered earlier and 1 person had died.
"Another person, who had travelled from Chennai along with the 14th case, has turned out to be Covid-19 positive," Chief minister Conrad K Sangma tweeted.
Sangma added that the person was in isolation in Resubelpara since the day of arrival. To date, out of the 6,353 samples that have been tested, 5,238 are negative and the results of 1,100 are awaited, Meghalaya's health minister AL Hek said.
Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong informed that over 9,500 people have so far returned to Meghalaya. Speaking on the number of people who are about to return to the state, Tynsong said, "On Tuesday evening, a special train from Rajasthan carrying 225 passengers and another train from Andhra Pradesh carrying 215 persons will leave for Guwahati. On Wednesday, a train from Delhi carrying 500 persons and another from Kerala carrying 510 persons will head towards Guwahati."
The deputy chief minister also informed that the state government has constituted two dedicated teams - one for those having to go out of the state for important work and the other for those stranded who are yet to register themselves with the state government to return to the state.
