CHANDIGARH: The
Punjab government delegation,
led by jails minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, met members of the Sikh community in
Shillong on Wednesday. Sikhs in Shillong have been fearing unsafe after a local radical gruop, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), recently threatened to kill them if they do not leave the area.
Assuring the Sikh community full protection and support, the delegation members said they were going to meet
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday.
Randhawa said infringement of the civil right of Sikhs who had settled down in Shillong over 200 years ago would not be allowed at any cost.
