SHILLONG: The overall Covid count went up to 58 in Meghalaya with three more persons testing positive for the virus on Thursday.
"Two more high risk contacts of a positive case from Ri Bhoi District have tested positive for COVID19," chief minister Conrad K Sangma tweeted at night, adding that the active cases have shot up to 14 in the state as of now.
Earlier in the day, another person had tested positive for Covid-19 in Ri- Bhoi district, even as one more patient, an army man, also recovered from the viral infection.

A personnel of the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), who had been admitted to the Military Hospital here after having tested positive on coming back to Shillong from Guwahati recently, was declared to have recovered on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the person, who tested positive on Thursday, is a resident of Khanapara, close to the Assam-Meghalaya inter-state boundary and is an employee at the Green-Wood Resort in Guwahati, state health and family welfare minister Alexander Hek Laloo said.
The health minister said the person had tested positive in Assam and the information was shared with the deputy commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district, who in turn ran a RT-PCR confirmatory test on the person, which also turned out to be positive.

"We conducted a test after he was referred by Assam government since he is a resident of Meghalaya," the health minister said, adding that patient has been admitted in an isolation ward in the corona care centre at Nongpoh, headquarters of the in Ri-Bhoi district and a vigilance team has been sent there for follow-up action.
Hek said of the 19,994 swab samples sent for testing, 19,679 came out to be negative and results of 260 are awaited.
