10 fresh Covid-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh, highest in day

Himachal Pradesh on Monday reported 10 new Covid-19 cases, the highest for a day, which included the mother of 2-year-old baby, who is admitted at a hospital in Balu of Chamba after testing positive.

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh on Monday reported 10 new Covid-19 cases, the highest for a day, which included the mother of 2-year-old baby, who is admitted at a hospital in Balu of Chamba after testing positive.
Of the 10 cases, five have been reported from Hamirpur district, three from Bilaspur and one each from Kangra and Chamba districts. With the latest additions, the state's total count of Covid-19 cases has hit 90, out of which 41 are active cases.
One person in Hamirpur and another in Una also recovered during the day.
All the five persons testing positive in Hamirpur district had returned from Mumbai recently and they were either under home or institutional quarantine since their return. While the youngest of them was 19-year-old, the oldest was a 60-year-old asymptomatic patient.
Their samples had been taken on Saturday and results were received on Monday afternoon. The administration has also started the process of tracing their primary and secondary contacts, and the areas from where they came are being sealed, officials said.
A 24-year-old female, wife of a Covid-19 patient from Jaunta village of Nurpur tehsil in Kangra district, also tested positive on Monday, while in Chamba district, the mother of 2-year-old positive patient turned positive.
In Bilaspur district, three cases, including the wife, 36, and son, 5, of an already confirmed Covid-19 case, who is under treatment in Mandi, surfaced. They tested positive upon their return from Ahmedabad. Besides, a 19-year-old youth, who had returned from Delhi and is a resident of Dabat-Majari in the district near
Punjab border, was also tested positive.
Of the total 90 persons tested positive so far in the state, 42 have recovered, four persons migrated out of the state and three died, while 41 are active cases. Of the total active cases, Kangra district has maximum 15, Hamirpur 11, Bilaspur 7, Chamba 5, Sirmaur 2 and Una 1 case.
In the state, total 31,361 persons were put under surveillance till Monday, of them 9,185 have completed 28 days of surveillance and 22,176 are under active surveillance. Total 18,224 persons have been tested for Covid-19, of which 17,946 have been tested negative, 90 tested positive and results of 188 samples are awaited.
