Nine killed, 40 injured in bus accident in Himachal

SHIMLA: Nine people were killed and nearly 40 were injured when a private bus fell into a rivulet, some six kilometres before Dadahu here in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday afternoon. According to sources, the ill-fated bus was on its way to Nahan from Renuka. While crossing Jalal Bridge, the driver lost control over the wheel and the vehicle fell into the rivulet breaking the railings.
After receiving the information, police reached on the spot and launched a rescue operation.
Those injured have been rushed to Nahan Medical College for treatment.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief on the accident.
In another mishap, a bus carrying tourists from Delhi fell into Kiari nullah near Sadhupul here after driver failed to negotiate the curve at around 12.30 pm on Sunday. As many as 21 persons were injured in the accident. The private bus bearing the registration number of Delhi was heading towards Chail from Junga.
Locals, on witnessing the accident, rushed to help and took the injured to hospital at Junga from where they were referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital Shimla for treatment.
