‘BJP workers should sensitize people about government policies’

SHIMLA: Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said that the party functionaries and office bearers need to work with greater coordination to ensure that the welfare policies and programmes initiated by the state government reach the people concerned. “Party workers should also ensure that the public was sensitized about the welfare schemes launched by the state government so that they could derive benefit from the same,” he added.

Thakur was addressing the office bearers of BJP Mandal Solan. This was the fourth mandal that participated in the Mandal Milan programme launched by the state government for effective dialogue between the party functionaries and the government. According to him, the 14th finance commission has provided liberal financial assistance to panchayats and party workers must ensure that the funds allocated for the development of respective panchayats were utilized properly and effectively. Thakur said that regular meetings must be held at the mandal level to ensure better coordination between party functionaries. He also said that party functionaries should try and woo new members to further strengthen it at the grass root level.According to Thakur, active party workers should also identify key issues and demands in their respective area, which could be redressed in due course of time.
Himachal Pradesh to eradicate Tuberculosis by 2023
Himachal Pradesh aims to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) before 2023 while the Government of India plans to do so by 2025. A new scheme, Mukhya Mantri Kshay Rog Nivarna Yojna (MMKRNY) has been launched to achieve the target, which will make the hill state the first TB-free state in the country. Around 14,000 TB patients are diagnosed and treated in government health institutions in the hill state. State government officials said in 2017, 15,000 new TB patients were diagnosed and put on treatment in government health institutions against a target of 14,070. Against a target of 2,500, nearly 900 new TB patients were notified from the private sector.
