DHARAMSHALA: On Saturday, the last day of the winter session of Himachal assembly, Congress members again staged a walkout from the House. This time over embezzlement of funds meant for SC and ST. When the opposition members brought up the issue of scholarship scam, BJP replied that the scam had taken place during the regime of previous governments and only the process to book the culprits started in their tenure.
Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, however, assured the House that the inquiry into scholarship scam would be handed over to CBI in the next three days.

The resolution to discuss the issue was moved by Jagat Singh Negi, Congress MLA from Kinnaur, who stated that despite having been proven, the sitting government has failed to take any action against culprits who embezzled the funds.
“Government sent the case to CBI, they sent their proposal back to state but still no FIR has been registered in this case,” he said, adding that no one was getting any scholarship for the last two years.
Education minister Suresh Bhardwaj said, “We referred the case to CBI, but they have asked us to register an FIR in Himachal. A case has been registered on November 16 with the police under various sections.”
But congress members expressed dissatisfaction and staged a walk out from the House.
