Convict killed, 2 injured in attack by rival gang in Hisar jail
Hisar: One convict lost his life while two other inmates were injured in an attack by members of a rival gang at Central Jail number 2 on Rajgarh road on Thursday morning. The attack was the outcome of the gang war between Vinod Kana and Surendra Gujjar groups.
Convict Ravindra of Sardarewala village in Fatehabad district was killed while Harjit of Hunarwala village and Talvinder from Bichwana village of Fatehabad are undergoing treatment in the Hisar civil hospital.

Hisar police spokesperson said that Azad Nagar cops have registered a case under Section 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (common object of unlawful assembly), 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of jail’s assistant superintendent Vikram Singh against Jagdeep alias Dukhi, Pawan alias Pauna, Dalwara, Deep, Sachin, Pankaj, Ajay alias Bachchi, Ankit, Sonu, Akshay and several others.
Giving the sequence of events, Azad Nagar police station in-charge Sukhjeet said the prisoners had come out for tea between 6 am and 7 am as usual on Thursday when Sonu alias Bachi, a member of the notorious Vinod Kana gang, and his associates attacked Ravinder, Talvinder and Harjeet -- members of the rival Surendra Gujjar gang -- in front of the block number 1 gate.
Alerted by the commotion, head warder Subhash, Mandeep, Rajkamal, Hanuman and Shamsher reached the site and stopped the fight. The injured gangsters, Ravinder, Talvinder and Harjeet were taken to hospital in the jail ambulance, but Ravindra succumbed on the way.
According to police, Ravinder used to live with his maternal grandfather in Sardarewala village. He was arrested on March 22, 2016, in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and sentenced him to 15 years’ in jail on December 19, 2018. The two injured inmates were convicted in snatching cases.
Gang wars are a big problem in the jail. In March this year, a brutal fight between two notorious gangs headed by Sandeep alias Bachhi and Vinod had left many inmates injured.
