Himachal high court gets two new judges

SHIMLA: Anoop Chitkara and Jyotsna Rewal Dua were sworn in as the Judge and Additional Judge respectively of the high court of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. They were administered oath of office by Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary, the Acting Chief Justice in a ceremony held in the high court at Shimla.
The Judges of high court including Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma and Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia were present on the occasion.

Registrar General Virender Singh conducted the proceedings. He read out the Warrants of appointment issued by the President of India appointing Anoop Chitkara and Jyotsana Rewal Dua as Judge and Additional Judge of the high court of Himachal Pradesh.
Justice Anoop Chitkara had started practising in high court of Himachal Pradesh in the year 1990 and practised across a wide spectrum of law; criminal law had been his area of focus since the year 2000. More than 500 cases argued by him have been reported in various law journals. He remained as reference lawyer in the list of lawyers for the State of Himachal Pradesh as also to the US Citizenry Services, Embassy of United states of America.
Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua got enrolled as an advocate in Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh in December, 1991 and practised law independently since then. She was designated Senior Advocate in July, 2015. She practised primarily in high court of Himachal Pradesh. She had also been appearing before HP State Administrative Tribunal, Shimla. During her initial years of practice, she also appeared before the Courts of Divisional Commissioner, Shimla, Financial Commissioner (Revenue), Shimla, and HP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Shimla. She mostly dealt with civil, constitutional, environmental, service and criminal matters.
