Himachal police recruitment examination cancelled
SHIMLA: Police recruitment examination conducted across Himachal Pradesh on Sunday has been cancelled by the state government after six youths from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, who were trying to impersonate candidates, were arrested by state police from Parol examination centre in Kangra district.
In the written examination, 3,115 candidates had appeared in Chamba district, 2,935 in Una district, 2,514 in Hamirpur district, 2,471 in BIlaspur district, 7,357 in Mandi district, 1,794 in Kullu district, 25 in Lahaul-Spiti district, 200 in Kinnaur district, 1,989 in Solan district, 2,485 in Sirmaur district and maximum 11,378 had appeared in Kangra district.

In a statement issued, an official spokesman said that after arresting the youths of UP and Haryana, the state police have also arrested a youth of Nagrotu of Jawali area of Kangra district. He said that the state government has decided to cancel the exams.
The spokesman said that the main accused, a youth from Darkati, was still at large and an amount of Rs 6 lakh has been recovered from his house. He said that it was being suspected that the accused were fleecing the candidates by assuring them that some other person would write test for them.
The spokesman said that in the absconding main accused would be nabbed soon and it would be ensured that the examination is conducted in a transparent manner at the earliest.
