DHARAMSHALA: The
Himachal Pradesh government has appointed 300 liaison officers to attend the special guests at the global investors' meet beginning here on November 7. Departments have come up with stalls at the venue to woo the investors with various opportunities in the state. The biggest challenge for the government is to provide land to the business projects for which special land banks have been created by the authorities.
The state government, which is under attack from the opposition regarding expenditure over the preparations for the summit, has not disclosed the list of guests coming to the event.0
However, a source told TOI that 1,750 investors have confirmed the participation so far.
A Delhi-based firm has been hired to provide luxury vehicles for the movement of investors coming to Himachal. "Chauffer driven high-end cars will be hired from the Delhi firm," the source added. While 125 liaison officers have been assigned to assist foreign delegates to help overcome any language barrier and other things. Other 25 have been kept on the standby.
A temporary helipad has been made at Rakkar village in the suburbs of Dharamshala, from where guests flying in from Chandigarh airport will be taken to their lodgings here. So far, 200 hotel bookings have been made to accommodate the guests.
