Himachal Pradesh reports five more coronavirus positive cases

SHIMLA: A 22-year-old woman from Jhirballa village of Shahpur sub-division in Kangra district tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday. She came into contact with her 25-year-old brother, who had returned from Delhi on April 28 tested positive on Friday. With this, the total five coronavirus positive cases have been tested in the last 24 hours as four positive cases have been reported in the state.
With this, the total 55 positive cases have been detected in the state till Sunday of which 14 are active cases.
On Saturday, two positive cases were reported from Kangra and Hamirpur, while at late night two taxi drivers from Ahmedabad of Gujarat and Delhi, whose samples were sent from Bilaspur tested positive at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla. One of the drivers, who was going to Baijnath in Kangra district, was carrying 5 passengers in car and he had started journey from Ahmedabad, while another driver, who was going to Mandi carrying three passengers, had started journey from Gurugram on Friday. All passengers are in quarantine at the border of Bilaspur district.
Bilaspur district administration had sent their samples for testing at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla, where samples of both the drivers tested positive coronavirus on Saturday late night. As samples were taken in Bilaspur, both will be counted as positive cases from Bilaspur. Following the confirmation of the sample report, they were shifted to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital at Ner Chowk in Mandi for treatment. Samples of all the eight passengers are also being taken.
A 52-year-old resident of Galor in Hamirpur district tested positive on Saturday. His sample was tested at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital at Tanda in Kangra district and he had also returned from Delhi four days back.
One more person from Gheena village of Baba Baroh tehsil of Kangra district tested positive for coronavirus in Kangra district on Saturday and he had also returned from Delhi, where he had stayed at the house of 42-year-old person from Barsar area of Hamirpur district who was also tested positive on Thursday.
Since Monday, 14 new positive cases have been detected in the state of which 9 were having the travel history of other states. Of the total 55 positive cases of coronavirus detected so far in Himachal Pradesh, 35 positive cases have recovered, four cases have migrated out of state, two persons have died while 14 cases are active.
Of the total active cases, three cases are from Chamba district, two cases from Hamirpur district, four cases from Kangra district, two cases from Bilaspur district and one each case from Una, Shimla and Mandi districts.
