Himachal Pradesh: University bus catches fire with 15 people on board
The entire bus was gutted but everybody is being said to be safe.
DHARAMSHALA: The staff and students of Arni University had a miraculous escape as the institute’s bus they were traveling-in caught fire halfway with 15 of them on board in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
The fire was so dangerous that it engulfed the entire bus. According to the eyewitnesses the flames were rising high and the vehicle was covered with fire, it was impossible to peep inside for rescue of passengers.
As the local people informed about the fire to the police, all of the passengers were lucky to rush out from bus in time.
The entire bus was gutted but everybody is being said to be safe.
The incident took place at Bhoop village when bus was on its way from Pathankot, Punjab, to Arni University situated at Indora area of Himachal Pradesh.
Sandeep Pathania, the area in charge of police told TOI that it was shot circuit in the bus which triggered the fire. The driver alerted everyone and all the passengers jumped off the bus.
"It is a miraculous escape for everyone. A major tragedy has been averted. We are going to check that whether the bus was fulfilling all the conditions laid for a university vehicle or not" he said.
