SHIMLA: One jawan was killed and three others sustained injuries when an
Army truck fell into a 100-foot deep gorge near Theog in
Shimla district on Friday. The truck was carrying furniture from Ambala to Jhakri when it met with an accident between Galu and Lambidhar area.
Shimla superintendent of police Omapati Jamwal said a case has been registered at Theog police station.
All the injured were taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital Shimla for treatment. The condition of one of the injured jawans admitted at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital is stated to be serious and he has been shifted to ICU, sources said.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Rajesh Kumar (35), a resident of Gulabbari village of Jaipur district in Rajasthan. His body has also been brought to the Shimla hospital for postmortem. The injured jawans are Nagappa B Masabi (35) of Mallapur village of
Belgaum district in Karnataka, Suranjan Tutti (34) of Virijala village of
Khunti district in Andhra Pradesh, and B K Ray (35) of Maner Tola village of
Patna district in Bihar.
