Lockdown helped Himachal Pradesh check coronavirus

The prompt lockdown announced by Himachal Pradesh paid off for the hill state where Covid-19 positive cases are restricted to just five of 12 districts. No positive case has been reported in the last five days and seven persons who tested positive earlier have recovered. Only 10 active cases of Covid-19 are being treated in hospitals and 25 positive cases have recovered.

SHIMLA: The prompt lockdown announced by Himachal Pradesh paid off for the hill state where Covid-19 positive cases are restricted to just five of 12 districts. No positive case has been reported in the last five days and seven persons who tested positive earlier have recovered. Only 10 active cases of Covid-19 are being treated in hospitals and 25 positive cases have recovered.
Covid-19 positive cases have been reported from Chamba (6), Hamirpur (2), Kangra (5), Sirmaur (2), Solan (9) and Una (16).
The remaining districts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, Shimla and Kinnaur are free of Covid-19. Solan, which had coronavirus positive cases earlier is now free of the infection.
The curfew and lockdown went a long way in maintaining social distancing as people stayed indoors and came out only to buy essentials. As of now, there are only 10 active cases of Covid-19 in Chamba (2), Hamirpur (2), Kangra (1), Sirmaur (1) and Una (4).
The first Covid-19 positive case was reported in Himachal Pradesh on March 19 when a 32-year-old youth and 63-year-old woman from Kangra district tested positive. On March 23, the state witnessed the first and only death caused by coronavirus infection when a 69-year-old Tibetan who returned from the US died of Covid-19 at a government hospital in Kangra.
