MC official gets notice for NOC to illegal construction

Dharamshala: The director of urban development of Himachal Pradesh has issued a show cause notice to an executive officer (EO) of Nagrota municipal council on Wednesday for issuing no-objection certificate (NOC) to an illegal construction in the Nagrota area of Kangra district as well as for not acting on the complaints about it.
According to the copy of the notice that is available with TOI, Ram Kumar Gautam, director of urban development has alleged that one Yoginder Nath, a resident of Nagrota Bagwan, had complained several times to the EO that an illegal commercial complex was coming up in his neighbourhood.However, the EO did not take any action against the person and allowed the construction to come up.
The notice states that initially the NOC was given for raising 545 sq metre area on ground floor and 586 each on first and second floors of the building in question. However, building was raised 786 sq metres on all floors creating a deviation of 27% from original map.
Recently, an NOC was issued by the EO for this building. Reacting to which the director has asked the EO to explain under which act the NOC was given to the building owner and why action was not taken against the owner of the building when complaints were regularly being made against the construction.
EO Chaman Lal Kapoor, when contacted, said the NOC for the building was given by the municipal council. He said the notice has been issued now to the owner of the commercial complex under the Municipal Act.
