Now, BJP government in Himachal Pradesh plans cow commission

DHARAMSHALA: Even as cow politics continues to claim lives, latest incident of Bulandshahr being case in point, the BJP government in Himachal has planned a bill related to cows preservation during the winter session scheduled to be held from December 10 to 15. The bill aims at forming a “Gau Vansh Samvardhan Ayog” in the state.
A cow cess was already levied in Himachal Pradesh by BJP government after coming to power in state.
Apart from this, 15% temple offerings were also used to maintain cowsheds in Himachal. The move was introduced during budget session of state this year. Punjab and Haryana has already such gau seva commissions, Maharashtra is mooting to bring this commission.
Parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Bhardwaj said the bill is expected to be taken up during the cabinet meeting in Dharamshala on December 11, after which it will be taken up in the assembly. He said other bills to be taken up include one on the NDPS Act and higher education.
Five important bills are to be tabled in this session. The Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (HP Amendment Bill), (NDPS) 2018 will make offences related to drug abuse more stringent and also make arrests under the Act non-bailable.
