Patients face inconvenience as medical colleges join pen down strike
Shimla: While hospitals in the districts of Himachal Pradesh observed two hours pen down strike to oppose the attack on lady doctor at Primary Health Centre at Thachi in Mandi district recently, medical colleges of the state, too, have decided to join the pen down strike for two hours from Thursday. Due to this patients had to face a lot of inconvenience on Wednesday.
Doctors have threatened to intensify their protest if those involved in the attack on lady doctor do not get arrested.
During the pen down strike, OPD services remained affected across the state though emergency services were provided. Doctors observed strike from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. They did not attend the patients in OPD during this period.
Patients were seen standing in long queues. Medical officers association has warned the government of intensifying their protest if strict action not taken in this matter and those involved in the attack not arrested.
In the medical colleges of the state, doctors continued to provide their services including OPD as they would join the strike from Thursday.
The lady doctor was posted at Primary Health Centre, Thachi. She was assaulted by some miscreants on Saturday after which doctors across the state began the agitation.
