Seven killed in two traffic accidents in Himachal Pradesh
MANALI: Seven persons were killed in two accidents in Kullu and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
Five persons were killed after a SUV fell into about 500 metre deep gorge near Katanu area of Deem Panachayat in Nirmand sub-division of Kullu district in the evening. According to sources, five persons were sitting in the vehicle and all died on the spot. Police had rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and the bodies were being lifted to the road with help of local residents.
Four deceased were identified as Rakesh Chauhan (driver), resident of Deem village, Balwant Singh, resident of Deem, Pawan Kumar, resident of Naged and Gyan Singh, resident of Naged.
The fifth deceased was still to be identified.
In another accident, two persons were killed and one sustained injuries after a car (HP06A9926) met with an accident near Teban in Karsog area of Mandi district.
The deceased were identified as Lal Chand (driver), 45, resident of Firnu village of Karsog and Ranveer Bahadur, 62, resident of Chhota Shimla. Both died on the spot while Bihari Lal, 55, resident of Karsog, sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital in Rampur.
Police said inquiries were initiated in both the cases.
