Major fire in Silvassa yarn unit

Surat: A major fire broke out in a yarn manufacturing unit at Rakholi village in the Union territory of Silvassa near Vapi on Tuesday. At least 30 water tankers from Vapi, Surat, Silvassa and Dadra Nagar Haveli were trying to control the fire until evening. There were no reports of any casualties so far in the fire that started from the godown of Bhilosa Industries and soon engulfed the two floor structure which had highly inflammable materials.
Vapi fire brigade said, "We were informed by some workers of the unit about the fire in the godown. However, the fire has now spread to engulf the whole unit."
Workers ran out of the building when the fire alarm was sounded. Therefore, workers and other staff were safe. This is the third time that fire has engulfed the company premises and caused major damages to its property.
