SURAT: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is learnt to have raided the premises owned by Daman-Diu Congress President, Ketan Patel in the union territory of Daman and his residence in Delhi on Saturday.
Sources close to the development informed that the CBI sleuths raided Ketan Patel's house in Daman, his farmhouse in Daman's Vatar area and his residence in Delhi since Saturday morning.
The raids are in connection with the case of amassing assets more than his known sources of income.
In 2014, a BJP leader in Daman had written to the Central Government and the CBI giving details of the assets and properties owned by Ketan Patel and had demanded a thorough inquiry against the Daman-Diu Congress president.
It must be recalled that Patel had hit the headlines in 2009 for setting up the Rs 350 crore worth of hotel and casino project. Patel's father, Dahyabhai Patel is the former MP of Congress.
Sources said that the raids are still going on at multiple locations in Daman and Delhi by the CBI teams.
Patel had led the agitation following the Gujarat High Court's comment on merging Daman with Gujarat few months ago.
