Daman Cong chief arrested in second case of duplicate logo
Surat: After his arrest in an extortion case, Daman and Diu Congress president Ketan Patel was arrested again for using duplicate logo of the ministry of home affairs on his car and remanded in police custody for three days by a court in the Union territory on Friday.
Official sources said Patel was arrested in the second case after his one day remand in the extortion case got over on Friday.
Patel had used duplicate logo of the ministry of home affairs on his car illegally, which is punishable under sections 468 and 471 of Indian Penal Code.
Patel was produced in the court which remanded him in police custody for three more days from Friday. Patel was arrested by Daman police from Mumbai and brought to the Union territory on Thursday.
The complainant in the case had alleged that Patel was demanding Rs5 lakh through cheque and Rs2 lakh cash from his company for using water sourced from panchayat area. The police had registered an offence under IPC section 384 against him.
