Fill vacant DIG post in Daman and Diu: DDPCC president to home minister
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh
SURAT: President of Daman-Diu Pradesh Congress Committee (DDPCC), Ketan Patel has urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to fill the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), which is vacant for a long time, in the union territory of Daman and Diu.
Patel has shot off a letter to the Home Minister stating that the absence of a high-ranking police officer in Daman and Diu is jeopardizing the coastal security of the territory from quite a long time.

It was in February, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had reviewed the security along the coast in Daman and Diu and asked the authorities to ensure further enhancement of protection of seas off the union territory.
Singh, who was on a two-day visit to Diu, had a detailed meeting with the Daman and Diu administration regarding various aspects of coastal security.
Talking to TOI, DDPCC president, Ketan Patel said, “At present, Daman and Diu’s two senior posts in police department is enjoyed by a family. While the wife, Meghna Yadav is in-charge DIG of Daman and Diu, her husband Seju P Kuruvilla has been made the Superintendent of Police (SP). The post of DIG is vacant from a long time when IPS Manish Agarwal was transferred”
Patel added, “Daman and Diu have a strategic location and shares a huge coastal territory. Recently, some suspects are believed to have penetrated into the territory and that the Daman and Diu administration has banned the assembly of more than four people. However, I have urged the Home Minister to immediately transfer the husband-wife duo and appoint a high-ranking police officer at DIG”
