Four killed in auto-car collision in Silvassa

SURAT: Four persons were killed and eight others seriously injured when a car rammed into an autorickshaw near Kilvani village of the Union territory of Silvassa near Vapi on Sunday.
The eight injured were rushed to Vinoba Bhave Hospital of Silvassa. Local people beat up the car driver and a commuter in it and damaged their vehicle before handing them over to police.
The autorickshaw carrying at least 12 labourers was on its way to Kilvani from Vapi.
When the autorickshaw reached Kilvani in Golanda, the car came from opposite direction and rammed into it.
“All the passengers were flung out of the autorickshaw which was crushed badly in the collision,” a local person said.
VA Mahajan, police inspector of Silvassa, said, “The injured have been admitted to a hospital.”
Vinoba Bhave Hospital sources said the deceased were Dhiru Chagan, 30; Raman Kanuja, 40; and Kalawati Mahesh, 30. A woman, who died in the accident, remained unidentified so far.
