Three workers killed, two injured in steel plant blast at Dadra and Nagar Haveli

SURAT: At least three workers were killed and two others were critically injured following a huge explosion in the iron melting furnace of the steel manufacturing company in Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) on Thursday.
Official sources informed that the fire took place on early Thursday morning in the furnace plant of Krishna Steel company located at Kanadi Fatak in Silvassa's Naroli area.
A total of five workers were working at the furnace when the incident occurred. While the three workers died on the spot, two got critically injured and were rushed to the Vinobabhave civil hospital.
The three deceased have been identified as Rajkumar Gupta, Vijay Gupta and Tilak Ram — all hailing from Madhya Pradesh. Two victims identified as Pradip and Raja Ram have sustained severe burn injuries and their condition is very critical.
The police and fire department rushed to the spot on Thursday. It took more than eight hours for the fire fighters to control the fire at the steel company.
Police sources said that the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, but it may have occurred due to the increase in the melting pressure in the furnace.
