4 tons of plastic waste collected during special collection drive in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city corporation collected three tons of used tubelights, CFL and bulbs and 4 tons of plastic waste during the special collection drive here on Sunday.
The collection drive was held as part of environment week celebrations. In addition to 36 material recovery facilities, corporation set up special counters at Vanchiyur junction, Chackai YMA, Pippinmoodu junction, Kazhakootam ward committee office, near Sreekaryam petrol pump, Kadakampally health inspector office, near Engineering college Pappanamcode and Putharikandam ground on Sunday.
A mega cleaning campaign was also held on Saturday in which waste accumulated in nine places were segregated and transported to aerobic bins and dry waste processing centres.
