Airport development: Review of complaints begin
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The review of complaints received during public hearing for land acquisition for the development of the Trivandrum International airport has begun. As many as four applications were received during the public hearing on January 24.
District administration had published a notification inviting people to attend the public hearing and raise any objection or demands regarding the draft rehabilitation and resettlement package.

The claims of the applicants are being reviewed, but the decision to include it in RR package is to be taken by the government.
“The special tehsildar and revenue inspector will visit the site and review the revenue records to check the claims of the applicants. A discussion will be held with the team and if the claims are found to be true, it will be forwarded to the land revenue commissioner, along with the report on public hearing and rehabilitation package,” said an official.
“The four applicants have claimed that they own land in the area demarcated for airport development but had relocated to another area, and thus did not receive the notification. The report is in process and is likely to be submitted to the land revenue commissioner by next week,” added the official.
Among the 171 people identified by district administration as the beneficiaries of RR package, who owned land and property in Vayyamoola area, only 17 had attended the meeting.
