Banks told to go slow on recovery of loans
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state cabinet decided to urge all banks not to go ahead with attachment procedures against the farmers in the flood-affected areas who defaulted on the loan payment, in the meeting held on Tuesday.
The decision will be communicated to the state-level banker’s committee.
The cabinet also decided to sanction Rs 9.4 crore towards the payment of margin to the ration shops, which distributed 89,540 tonnes of rice supplied by the Centre to help the flood-hit.

A project intended for welfare and rehabilitation of the street vendors was also given the nod by the cabinet.
A notification in this regard will be issued soon. As per the decision, shopping complexes will be set up for vendors in respective areas. The city corporation have to identify space for the same.
Appointments: Coastal police ADGP Sudhesh Kumar has been appointed as the new transport commissioner. He will replace K Padmakumar, who has not been given any new posting.
N Prashanth, was serving as district collector of Kozhikode and went on central deputation later, has been appointed as the managing director of Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Ltd.
Viswas Mehta, who is the additional chief secretary of water resources department, has been given the additional charge of the chairman of Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Ltd.
