C K Lukose passes away
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: C K Lukose, politburo member of SUCI and all India vice-president AIUTUC, died here on Wednesday.
Lukose, 71, had Parkinson’s disease and was undergoing treatment for the past few months. He breathed his last at the Medical College Hospital by 6.30am on Wednesday.
Lukose was born in Piravom in Ernakulam. He was attracted to SUCI while studying for engineering in TKM College, Kollam.
For several years, he served as Kollam district secretary of SUCI.
In 1988, he was selected as the state secretary of SUCI. During his tenure, Lukose tried to organise people’s resistance campaigns across the state against capitalist policies followed by governments.
His body will be kept for public homage at SUCI Centre, Law College Junction from 10am to 1pm on Thursday. Cremation will be held at 2pm at Santhi Kavadam.
Lukose leaves behind wife Lalitha Mathew, son Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose (member secretary, state disaster management authority) and daughter Ammu Lukose. National leaders of SUCI Radhakrishna and Souman Bose will reach here on Thursday to pay homage to Lukose. tnn
