THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A documentary on the distinguished career of former Isro scientist Nambi Narayanan is to be released this month. The focus of ‘Nambi the scientist’, will be on Narayanan’s contributions to Indian space research and will not touch upon the spy scandal which shattered his life .
The film traces Nambi’s life from his childhood to the student days and his career at
Thumba Equatorial Launching station .
He was one among the five scientists in the team under Vikram Sarabhai, the father of Indian space programme.
He was the also first serving scientist in the history of Isro who was given the permission to go abroad for higher studies. Narayanan completed his engineering on liquid propulsion systems from Princeton University in 1969.
Recalling his visit to Société Nationale d'Etude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation (Snecma) in France, Narayanan said: “They appreciated the contribution of our Indian team in the joint efforts to develop the Vikas engine. Though it was a private visit, they had hoisted the Indian and French flags side by side.,” he said.
The 30-minute long film is directed by Prajesh Sen. Noted British dubbing artist Alex Warner has lent his voice for narration while journalist
Naseem Begum worked on the script. Edited by Sreekumar , the film was partly shot in India, France and the US.
