Thiruvananthapuram: FIR against Jasmin Sha, three others
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crime branch has registered a first information report against United Nurses’ Association (UNA) national president Jasmin Sha and three others, following accusation of misappropriation of funds.
The state police chief had on Monday ordered the ADGP (Crimes) to register an FIR, and initiate a probe based on the latter’s report that Sha did not cooperate with the preliminary inquiry.

The FIR has named UNA state president Shoby Joseph, office staff Jithu, and driver Nidhin as co-accused. They have been accused of forgery and cheating.
UNA state vice-president Sibi Mukesh had in April, complained to the state police chief that Rs 3.40 crore had been misappropriated from the organization’s fund.
The top cop ordered a preliminary probe by the crime branch, but Mukesh, who felt the investigators were biased, lodged another complaint with the ADGP and another team was formed.
Meanwhile, Sha moved the high court for a stay on the probe, but the plea was dismissed. Later, he approached the Thrissur district police chief saying documents related to the case had gone missing. The complaint was lodged after the crime branch team served him a notice for the relevant documents.

The ADGP submitted the report to the DGP after this development.
Mukesh on Tuesday said he would approach the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau for a probe to check whether the officer, who conducted the initial probe, was in collusion with the accused.
The alleged cash misappropriation charge was raised after the accused rejected the request of Mukesh and five others, who were contesting to the Kerala Nursing Council, for sufficient funds for election campaign. Lack of sufficient amount in the account was cited as the reason.
