Honour for Yesudas and P T Usha

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Singer K J Yesudas, businessman M A Yusuff Ali, cardiologist Dr V V Bashi and former athlete P T Usha will be honoured with V Gangadharan Memorial Awards, constituted in memory of the former speaker of the Travancore-Cochin legislative assembly.
A jury comprising former minister for culture M A Baby, former DGP Jacob Punnose, former MP Panniyan Raveendran, general education secretary A Shahjahan, filmmaker Vidhu Vincent and Saritha Varma unanimously selected these personalities for the award constituted by the Kadappakada Sports and Arts Club in association with V Gangadharan Memorial Trust.
The award carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh each, memento and certificate.
Baby said that the awards are given to four deserving candidates for their immense contribution to the respective fields.
The awards will be presented during the closing ceremony of the V Gangadharan birth centenary commemorations in April.
