Migrant labourer falls from building, dies in hosp
Venjaramoodu: A migrant labourer, who was undergoing treatment after falling from the sunshade of an under-construction house, died here on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Tintu Roy, son of Narayan Roy, hailing from Rampur in Nagaon district of Assam.
According to t Pothencode police, the mishap took place on Saturday afternoon when the victim along with co-workers was engaged in the construction work of the two-storeyed house at Thachampally, near Pothencode.
Roy sustained serious injuries on the right side of his head.
He was rushed to Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. He was on ventilator support and breathed his last around 8. 45am on Sunday.
According to sources close to the victim, he had arrived in the city with a group of labourers from different parts of the northern states a few months ago. “On Saturday, we heard a loud noise and looked down. He was bleeding profusely and was battling for life. The doctors informed us that he sustained serious injuries above his right ear and there were less chances of survival,” said Sunil Kumar, a co-worker.
The co-workers have contacted the family members of Roy. “They told us to keep the body at medical college morgue. They will reach the city on Monday evening,” said Kumar. tnn
