THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured 50.13 lakh citizens will receive social welfare pension before Onam and Bakrid.
He said that till Monday, the government has disbursed 62% of the social welfare pensions to all the eligible. He said that the distribution will be completed to all the beneficiaries before Onam. In his
Facebook post, He said that the government has also taken steps to disburse festival allowance, bonus and salary in advance to all the government employees without any delay.
He said that the government has a commitment of disbursing Rs 3100 crore as pensions to 50.13 eligible citizens. He said that of this, 52% of the pensions will be disbursed through the banks and the remaining will be disbursed at the houses of the beneficiaries through the cooperative banks.
He said that while the pensions to the banks have almost been completed, the
remaining pensions to be disbursed to the houses are fast progressing, the chief minister said. This will be completed by August 29, he said.
The state government disburses social welfare pensions including agriculture labour pension, Indira Gandhi national old-age pension, Indira Gandhi national disabled
pension scheme- for both physically and mentally challenged persons, pension to unmarried women above 50 years and Indira Gandhi national
widow pension scheme.
