Thiruvananthapuram: Corporation opens segregated dry waste collection hub
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Mayor V K Prasanth inaugurated the dry waste segregated collection hub at Sasthamangalam here on Monday. The collection hub is meant for people who can drop their dry waste in a segregated manner while they are travelling. Mayor said that dumping of dry waste in public places could be completely prevented by creating the right sense of awareness on segregation of dry waste. The collection hub has got separate slots for depositing glasses, paper,sandals, bags, plastic and glass waste.

Corporation has deputed staff to monitor the hub which will function for 24 hours. A selfie point has also been readied near the hub where people can take selfies after depositing dry waste in collection hub. Corporation will give prizes for pictures which have to be uploaded on smart Trivandrum mobile app. The corporation runs 45 material recovery facilities and resource recovery centres for collection of dry waste based on a calendar.
