THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Several areas in the city will experience partial disruption of
water supply for three days from Tuesday. The
Kerala Water Authority (KWA) announced water supply disruption due to cleaning of two major overhead tanks at Observatory hills on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The officials of KWA said that tanks are cleaned every three months. Areas expected to be affected include Sastamangalam, Vellayambalam, Vazhutacaud, Thycaud, Palayalam, PMG, Valiyasala,
Thampanoor, Statue,
Ayurveda college, Pattom, Plammoodu, Murinjapalam, Thekkumoodu, Goureeshapattom, Kannamoola, Kumarapuram, Vanchiyoor,
Kaithamukku, Pettah, Chackai, Pattoor, Karikkakom, Sanghumukham, Veli, Poudkadavu, Oruvathikotta, Anayara, Nandavanam, Bakery junction and Pulimoodu.
Currently, major tanks in the city have a very low level of water due to increasing demand. While the old tank has a level of less than 1 metre, JICA tank has no water at all. So KWA officials said that the cleaning might not have a major impact on water availability.
Executive engineer PH Division (North) in a press statement advised public to take necessary precautions.
