GANDHINAGAR: Students who have been born in Gujarat and have completed their class XII education from the state will not be required to submit a domicile certificate for admission to medical and paramedical courses, the state government announced on Friday. This has laid to rest the uncertainty of domicile certificate issue, even as admissions to medical and paramedical courses are set to begin shortly.
All other students who have not been born in Gujarat or have completed their class XII education from outside the state, will have to produce domicile certificates for admission in medical and paramedical courses in Gujarat, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel said on Friday.

The state government has also decided to implement the additional 10% EWS quota in medical courses from this academic year. “The 2019-20 medical admissions will be conducted with provision for the 10 per cent EWS quota,” the deputy CM said.
He added that for the year 2019-20, students of the Union territories of Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli, who have passed the class XII examination from the Gujarat education board, will be given exemption from domiciliary certificate this year also. Apart from this, the Gujarat medical admission committee has been allotted 10 seats of the new medical college at Dadra Nagar Haveli.
