VIJAYAWADA: An 86-year-old bedridden woman was sexually assaulted by her son at Akunuru village in Krishna district.
The accused man, a lorry driver by profession, is absconding.
According to Vuyyuru circle inspector P Kasi Viswanath, the woman was assaulted three days ago but the incident came to the light only on Monday after neighbours lodged a complaint in this regard.

The accused allegedly returned home in an inebriated condition after work from Odisha. He woke up his mother and sexually assaulted her. The woman, suffering from several ailments and back pain, could not defend herself. Her two other sons were not at home when the incident took place.
The accused is the youngest of her three sons. He got married 20 years ago.
“We have recorded the statement of the victim and registered a case. Doctors have confirmed that it is a case of sexual assault,” Kasi Viswanath told TOI.
Police said the accused committed the “unspeakable” act as part of revenge against his mother after their last meeting ended up in a fight.
The victim did not immediately inform the incident to anyone. Later, the emotionally-disturbed woman informed her neighbour, and soon the word reached a woman activist, who insisted that she should come out against her son. The police are on the look out for the accused.
This is the second such sexual attack against a senior citizen in Vuyyuru police limits since August 2018. Last year, on August 27, a 20-year-old youth raped a 68-year-old woman at her residence in Kalavapamula village of Vuyyur mandal. The police acknowledge alcoholism and deviant behaviour as the reason in both cases.
