Andhra Pradesh: Family fulfills 75-year-old woman’s last wish; donates body for medical research

VIJAYAWADA: Fulfilling a 75-year-old woman’s last wish, her family members donated her body to Siddhartha Medical College for organ donation and research purpose on Thursday.
Family members explained that Annapurnamma from Pedapalaparru village under Mudinepalli mandal in Krishna district was known among the locals as a philanthropist.
Annapurnamma had been living with her daughters after her husband passed away many years ago.From helping the poor financially to aiding the needy children to study, she had been quite popular in the local circles.
She passed away on Tuesday due to old age-related diseases. Prior to her demise, she had convinced her family members to donate her body to a hospital for organ donation and medical research. Siddhartha college principal PSN Murthy handed over the acknowledgement documents to the family members and appreciated their gesture.
“Her gesture would inspire many. Even in demise, she gave life to many,” Murthy said.
