VIJAYAWADA: A man killed his 8-month-old son by banging him on a wall at Recharla village in Prakasam district on Saturday.
The accused father, Gummalla Chinna Pullaiah (36), suspected his wife of infidelity and attacked her as well with a pestle. Pullaiah's wife Rama Devi (20) is fighting for her life at RIMS Hospital Ongole.
Giddalur inspector U Sudhakar Rao said that it was a second marriage for Pullaiah who works as daily wage labourer.
He had killed his first wife Lakshmi Devi as well. He had hacked Lakshmi to death with an axe, again over suspicions of infidelity.
He was convicted for murder and spent 8 years in jail. He was released about two years ago and got married to Rama Devi, a native of Kadapa district.
The marriage went smoothly till Rama Devi gave birth to their son. Pullaiah started suspecting and harassing her. On Sunday, they had a fight after which Pullaiah killed his son.
After killing the baby, the accused attacked Rama with a pestle causing severe head injuries. As the neighbours rushed to the house on hearing the screams of Rama Devi, Pulaiah fled from the scene.
A case has been booked under Section 302 of IPC and cops have launched a search operation to nab him.
