VIJAYAWADA: Just a day after an eight-month-old boy was murdered by his father in Prakasam district, an eight-year-old girl was killed by her mother’s paramour in Bhavanipuram police station limits in the city on Sunday.
The incident came to light on Monday after police found the body of the girl inside a jute bag at her neighbour’s house.
According to Bhavanipuram cops, the girl went missing on Sunday afternoon and a complaint was also filed by her parents—father Anil and mother Ramanamma, who works as a sweeper in a nearby school and was on duty at the time.

Police began the search for the girl and after checking the CCTV camera footage in the area, they ascertained that the girl could not have headed towards the highway. They then started searching nearby houses and found the girl’s body at their neighbour Prakash’s home. Upon further interrogation, cops found that he committed the crime at the behest of Ramanamma, with whom he was having an extramarital affair.
The girl had apparently seen both of them in a compromising position and fearing that she may reveal it to her husband, the mother plotted the murder. She first asphyxiated her daughter with Prakash’s help, but they had not got a chance to dispose of the body and so kept it in a jute bag at his home.
