RAIPUR: Under its initiative for having separate local manifestos for constituencies, Congress on Monday issued a separate 16-point local manifesto for Raipur Lok Sabha seat pledging industrial growth and safe drinking water for the city.
Raipur mayor Pramod Dubey is the Congress candidate for the seat. In its local manifesto the party further promised proper irrigation system, metro rail, employment and improvement in education and health sector.

The manifesto states that the constituency will be developed as an industrial hub, in an environmentally friendly way, to attract IT and technical industries.
Steps will be taken to ensure potable water supply in all homes and water for irrigation to farmers, says the manifesto. It talks about promoting women self-help groups and proving employment opportunities to them.
"The metro project, stalled by the Centre and previous state governments, will be my priority," states Dubey's manifesto.
Superfast trains connecting the city to Haridwar, Bhopal and other tourist and holy spots will be introduced, says the manifesto.
Free-hold of housing board properties, provision for daily wage workers and setting up of Rajiv Gandhi Ground Water Institute in the city, also find a mention in the manifesto.

Dubey, has also promised to work for conserving the environment, proper traffic management system and health services. The manifesto was released by the urban administration minister Shiv Daharia and senior Congress leader Satyanarayan Sharma at the central office of Raipur Lok Sabha constituency in Raipur.
During the release, senior Sharma said this manifesto deals with local issues of Raipur which have not been given due attention at the parliamentary level.
