Canadian police’s pipe band enthralls Chandigarh
While perfectly synchronised performance of Vancouver police pipe band left onlookers speechless, their rendition of patriotic song Saare jahan se achha upped the excitement level. The 24-member pipe band was in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening to perform at a mall in Industrial area here. Besides belting out signature Canadian melodies, they played some other tracks too.
It was a mesmerizing spell as members indulged in singing to celebrate Indo-Canadian relationship.
The mall echoed with the cheers as traditional Canadian tunes turned the environs melodious. The main aim was to highlight strong ties which India and Canada share. It was a great mix of traditional Canadian and patriotic Indian songs at the event which also saw consul general of Canada, Mia Yen and Vancouver police board member Barjinder S Dhahan, who is a Sikh. The Vancouver police pipe band, which has been travelling to different countries, is among the world’s oldest police pipe bands.
