Chandigarh Times most desirable man 2018: Jassie Gill

Chandigarh Times most desirable man 2018: Jassie Gill
Once a college youth festivals winner, Jassie Gill quickly climbed the industry, first with his songs in Punjabi, followed by films, to having made the Bollywood transition in 2018 with Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. This affable Punjabi gabru is unstoppable in his music and film successes, becoming only the second Punjabi star to be equally popular in Bollywood. Little wonder then, that Jassie was the first choice for Chandigarh Times Most Desirable Man of 2018.

This year you trumped Diljit Dosanjh to emerge on top of the Chandigarh Times Most Desirable Man 2018 polls.
This is so ironic. Last year when I was on number nine, my mom, who is now in Canada, had preserved the newspaper cutting, which is still lying at home. I didn't know that next year I will be on number one.
What is the definition of desirable for you?
I always believe that external beauty is god gifted. But to become desirable, I think I would qualify if people whom I meet, whether fans or friends, are able to relate to me as their own, not as someone unreachable. Being earthy and congenial, for me is being desirable.
And what about desirable traits in women?
I respect my mother a lot. She has always supported me, saved money to fulfill all my desires. So, for me, any lady who can make me feel as special, make those sacrifices especially for me, I would find her desirable.

Your next Punjabi film, High End Yaariyan seems to share its concept with Bollywood's films on three friends and journeys...
In the quest of making films, it's possible that some concepts do become similar. But, in Punjabi, after Yaar Anmulle, there has been no film on dosti. This film is about strong bonds between three boys who are out of home for education. In depicting the friendship, it's a very new concept for Punjabi films.
You have also rendered a song, Churai janda eh in it. Was that your choice, or the music director's?
Usually, directors take their own decisions in giving songs. But, in this film, they did send me two-three options to choose from, and I chose to sing this romantic track, since I thought I can do justice to it. These light, romantic melodies, are my personal favourite.
Your naughty single with Neha Kakkar was a huge success in recent times. Whose selection was that song?
Neha is a dear friend of few years. We had been wanting to collaborate since long, and in fact the song was composed early last year. In singles, its my personal choice what I want to sing, unlike in films where we have to abide by the filmmaker’s decisions.
You are also doing Panga with Kangana Ranaut. What's your role in that?
I can't reveal much, except that I play a supportive husband to Kangana in the film, and have a job in the railways. Next schedule of shooting is in Delhi, sometime in March.
Will you also be singing for the film?
Shankar ji is giving the music and if only he deems fit, he will send me something to sing too for the film. I always take up things I can do, not something that is outside my zone, or things that don't suit me.
