Chandigarh forms committee to decide on reopening of schools

CHANDIGARH: In a first step towards reopening of the schools UT education department on Friday set up a committee for taking decision on extension of summer vacation and on reopening of government schools.
The committee has been told to give report on June 4, 2020. A meeting of all the committee members has been fixed on Monday, June 1 in the office room of Deputy Director School Education, Senior officials confirmed the same.
The date has been set as June 4 because the Education Department, Chandigarh is expecting new guidelines of Covid and Lockdown 5.0 by Ministry of Home Affairs by June 1 or 2, sources said,
On basis of new guidelines, the committee would prepare and submit the report to Education Department on whether to open the schools or not and whether to call the teachers to school or not.

As per the letter issued in this regard a committee comprising of the officials of the education department and principals of the school has been constituted for taking decision “for extension of Summer Vacation (for school students) and re-opening of Schools keeping in view the present prevailing circumstances due to Pandemic COVID-19 and submit a report in this regard by June 4, 2020 positively.”
The committee includes The Deputy Director- I and II, the District Education Officer, the Deputy District Education Officer I and II, The Subject Expert (Commerce), and the principals of government model senior secondary school in Modern housing complex, in sector 33 and in sector 15.
