Cong sacks secretary for Priyanka soon after appointment
NEW DELHI: A red-faced Congress on Wednesday sacked a party secretary just a day after he was appointed and assigned the work of eastern UP under AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Kumar Ashish was removed after reports surfaced that he was arrested in a paper-leak case in Bihar 15 years ago. The reports triggered a controversy since he had been attached to Priyanka.
In a quick about-turn, the AICC issued a press statement announcing that Ashish’s appointment has been cancelled and that Sachin Naik would be the new secretary in his place.
The statement said the decision was taken by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
However, partymen supporting Ashish called the decision unfortunate. They said the police had wrongly named Ashish in the paper-leak case and could not present any evidence to back its claim. Also, they said Ashish has filed
