JD(U) tastes defeat in all 5 Lok Sabha seats it contested outside Bihar
PATNA: Though Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) won 16 out of 17 Lok Sabha seats it contested in Bihar and seven of 15 assembly seats it contested in Arunachal Pradesh, the party lost all five Lok Sabha seats it contested outside Bihar without having an alliance with any party.
The party had contested three Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, one each in Lakshadweep and Manipur.

As per the data of Lok Sabha election results available on official website of the Election Commission, the JD(U) candidates from Akbarpur, Robertsganj and Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Outer Manipur constituencies not only faced defeat but they also lost their forfeit deposits.
Except Lakshadweep seat where JD(U) candidate Dr Mohammad Sadique managed to secure 1,342 votes (2.85% of the total polled votes), its candidates failed to secure even 1% of polled votes in any of the rest four seats outside Bihar. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Mohammed Faizal won Lakshadweep seat by bagging 22,851 votes (48.61% of the polled votes).
As per the results data, the JD(U) candidate from Outer Manipur seat Hangkhanpau Taithul secured 2,987 votes (0.35% of the total votes polled). The Naga Peoples’ Front candidate Lorho S Pfoze won the seat by bagging 3,63,527 votes (42.37% of the polled votes).
In Uttar Pradesh, JD(U) had fielded its candidates from three seats where the NDA had won the election in 2014. The JD(U)’s Pilibhit candidate Dr Bharat got only 1,624 votes which is just 0.14% of the total polled votes in the constituency where BJP’s famous leader Feroze
Varun Gandhi turned out victorious by bagging 7,04,549 votes (59.38%).
In Akabarpur, the JD(U) candidate Ravi Sachan got only 1,028 votes, 0.1% of the polled votes. BJP’s sitting MP Devendra Singh ‘Bhole’ retained the seat by bagging 5,81,282 votes (56.69%).
Similarly, JD(U) candidate from Robertsganj Anita Kol secured 6,683 votes, 0.68% of the total polled votes. The Apna Dal (Sonelal) candidate Pakauri Lal Kol won the seat by securing a huge 4,47,914 votes (45.32%).
